Gregory, Greg to his clients and friends, is a seasoned lawyer who serves as counsel in McInnes Cooper’s St. John’s office. His practice focuses on advising employers on a wide range of labour and employment law issues. These include unfair labour practices, certification applications, successor rights, and common employer claims. He also handles collective bargaining, injunctions during labour disputes, and grievance and arbitration matters under collective agreements. Additionally, Greg advises on wrongful dismissal, employee discipline and discharge, occupational health and safety, human rights, labour standards, pensions, and workers’ compensation.
Greg’s practice covers a diverse array of industries such as construction, energy, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, fishing, service, education, and the public sector. He has substantial experience negotiating and interpreting collective agreements in accordance with both Newfoundland and Labrador and Canadian labour laws, including managing project labour agreements as per the Special Project provisions of the Labour Relations Act for Newfoundland and Labrador. He frequently advises on labour relations structures for large-scale projects in the energy, oil, and gas sectors.
Greg has an impressive track record of representing clients before arbitrators, various boards and tribunals, the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Federal Court of Canada.
