About Anthony

Tony Tam is a client-focused corporate and banking lawyer in our Halifax office who provides a full range of legal services regarding commercial transactions, bankruptcy and insolvency law.

Tony has extensive experience in commercial law: including in the acquisition, sale, financing and development of commercial properties and businesses. A significant portion of his practice is in bankruptcy and insolvency law, acting for lending institutions in loan recovery and the enforcement of security, work-outs and proposals, bankruptcies and receiverships. He is Atlantic regional counsel to national corporations and general counsel to financial institutions. Tony’s experience in commercial and bankruptcy law enables him to provide a complete and full service to his clients.

Tony received his Nova Scotia Kings’s Counsel designation in 2011.

He is a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, the Canadian Bar Association and the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. He is a former director of the Atlantic Canada Chinese Business Council. He has frequently lectured on insolvency matters at national and regional conferences.

Tony has taught karate for over 48 years and is the holder of an 8th degree black belt under the International Shotokan Karate Federation. He is the vice-president of the international branch, director of the Canadian organization, a member of the international Technical Committee and Head Instructor for Nova Scotia.
