McInnes Cooper’s Gavin Giles, QC elected National Chair of Canadian Red Cross for 2016-2018

We congratulate Gavin Giles, QC, a Partner in our Halifax office on his recent election as the National Chair of the Canadian Red Cross for the 2016-2018 term. Gavin will serve as Vice-Chair of the Canadian Red Cross and as Chair of its Governance Committee from 2014 to 2016. Gavin has spent more than a decade giving back through his work for the Canadian Red Cross, concentrated in the areas of domestic disaster relief, the rehabilitation of Canadian indigenous peoples’ communities and mother and child health in sub-Saharan central Africa. The Canadian Red Cross recognized Gavin’s work when it honoured him with its national Distinguished Service Award for 2012. Gavin’s volunteer work also includes the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and in particular, a decade of fundraising efforts through the Atlantic Canada MS Bike Tour, for which he was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal on November 13, 2012.
