Halifax, Thu, May 18, 2023 – McInnes Cooper is pleased to announce Chair of the Board of Directors and Senior Partner, Jack Graham, will receive an honorary degree from Cape Breton University (CBU) at the Spring convocation this week.
Raised in Sydney, Jack is recognized for his dedication to the betterment of his community and his outstanding professional career.
A recognized leading labour and employment lawyer for more than 34 years, Jack served as President of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers – the National Association of management-side labour and employment lawyers. Known for his strategic abilities, Jack has represented clients in some of the most complex public and private sector labour matters in Atlantic Canada.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jack has championed tennis on local, national, and international stages. He is widely regarded as one of the key architects of the success of Canadian tennis. Jack was Chair of the Board of Tennis Canada from 2006 until 2009. In 2009, he became the first Canadian elected to the Board of Directors of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the sport’s world governing body. Jack has been re-elected on four occasions and is currently the longest-serving member of the prestigious Board. Since joining the ITF Board, Jack has led major governance reforms and has played a leading role in transforming the ITF’s signature competitions and global sport integrity systems.

Convocation ceremonies will take place on Thursday, May 18, and Friday, May 19. CBU will confer honorary doctorates to three other community leaders, Ms. Andrea Rosen, Mr. Stephen Muise and Dr. Phil Smith.
