McInnes Cooper would like to congratulate Partner, Elias Metlej for being awarded Lebanese Professional of the Year, by the Nova Scotia Lebanese Chamber of Commerce at its twelfth Annual Cedar & Maple Gala on May 16th in Halifax.
Elias is a leading lawyer in the areas of corporate finance and commercial real estate law. Serving as lead counsel on many projects completed in Halifax, he contributes with great enthusiasm toward to the evolving landscape of urban development in Nova Scotia including prominent condominium, subdivisions, and development projects such as the Nova Centre, Queen’s Marque, and the Parks of West Bedford, to name a few. Dedicated to ever strengthening client relationships, Elias works with financial institutions and developers, as well as the Province of Nova Scotia with respect to policy and legislative reform for subdivision and condominium law. Elias also maintains a significant hotel practice, providing representation during the purchase and sale process.
Elias’ contributions to the Lebanese community are vast, most recently playing a major role in the organization and development of the new Lebanese Maronite Church. His commitment to serving his community extends to pro bono work with Feed Nova Scotia, assisting in the expansion and relocation to its new Dartmouth site, as well as Habitat for Humanity, where he is actively involved in an ambitious five year plan to subdivide and build an entire neighbourhood.
Other 2019 recipients of the Lebanese Chamber Awards are: Robert Zed, Triangle Strategies Lebanese Person of the Year; Mansour’s Menswear, Lebanese Business of the Year and the Bertossi Restaurant Group for the Canadian Business of the Year.
