Acquisition of St. John’s Dockyard Ltd. (“Newdock”)

Acted as lead counsel to a Mi’kmaq partnership of Membertou and the Qalipu First Nation together with private sector partner Horizon Naval Engineering.  The transaction resulted in the acquisition of St. John’s Dockyard Ltd. (“Newdock”) with the Mi’kmaq partnership jointly controlling a 95% interest in Newdock.  The transaction was valued at approximately $60 million.
